The lead detective in the Waukesha Christmas Parade attack investigation says Darrell Brooks Jr. never told them why he did it.
Detective Jay Carpenter spent another day on the stand yesterday. He told the jury that he was originally cagey with Brooks after his arrest to see if Brooks was telling the truth. Brooks, when it was his time to ask questions, asked the detective why he wasn’t more honest. Carpenter said he wasn’t sure Brooks drove through the parade and killed several people, but said he had a feeling Brooks was involved. Prosecutors are expected to wrap-up their case today, then it will be Brooks’ turn to offer his defense.
