The storm system that brought rain across the Chippewa Valley dropped some huge hail in some parts of western Wisconsin.
A number of people took to social media to show the hail, which ranged from golf ball sized to baseball sized, from last night’s storms. Folks in River Falls, Wisconsin saw the worst of it. Forecasters say the storms also brought brilliant flashes of lightning. There are no reports of major damage or any serious injuries.
Meanwhile, Mother Nature was busy in another part of our state, too.
Milwaukee’s sewer managers are measuring last week’s heavy rains in the millions-of-gallons. The city’s Metropolitan Sewerage District yesterday said the storms on September 10th and 11th pushed 756 million gallons of water through their system and eventually into Lake Michigan or Milwaukee’s rivers. That much water flooded several places, including parts of I-94.
Forecasters say the storm produced the sixth highest rainfall total since the late 1800’s.
