There are now criminal charges against the former Dane County deputy accused of faking an attack last year.
Prosecutors yesterday charged Sarah Bortz-Rodriguez with resisting and obstructing officers following the fake attack in Festge Park. She originally told investigators that a masked man attacked her in the park, and slashed her arm. Dash cam video shows Bortz-Rodriguez cut herself and was never attacked. She was fired last year. She’s free on a signature bond until her next court date.
