Gavel Drops: Prison Time, Apology Letter Ordered For Deadly Buggy Crash

It’s four years in prison for the man who killed a mother of nine in a horse-and-buggy crash in Taylor County. A judge yesterday sentenced Skyler Opelt to prison, and ordered him to write an apology letter. Police say he smashed into the back of the buggy being driven by Anna Borntreger last November. It’s not clear if Opelt was high while he was driving, but police say he took drugs after the crash and had to be revived with Narcan. Nine kids who were in the buggy during the crash were also hurt.
