A day of tubing down the river turned violent after five people were stabbed, one fatally. The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office says a 17-year-old boy from Minnesota died Saturday and four others were taken to the hospital with critical injuries.
The incident happened on the Apple River. Police say an unidentified, 52-year-old suspect from Minnesota is in custody without incident. Investigators are working to determine if the suspect knew the victims and what led up to the stabbings.
St. Croix County Sheriff Scott Knudson says witnesses help law enforcement locate the suspect. Formal charges have not yet been filed. We could get an update on the case later today.
