The mayor of Mauston issues a disaster declaration because of damage done by recent storms.
Mayor Dennis Nielsen says the city will continue to assess the full extent of the damage from yesterday’s tornado and wind in the coming days. He says the city will also be requesting assistance from the county and state government.
When it comes to other areas hit by the sever weather, we’re still waiting for confirmation from the National Weather Service on the strength of a tornado that touched down in Tomah.
The tornado touched down around four o’clock yesterday afternoon and destroyed some trees, a barn, and tipped over semi trucks. It also resulted in thousands of power outages.
