Harassment Complaint Shakes Up Kiel Schools

School leaders in Kiel are defending their decision to push a sexual harassment complaint against three middle schoolers for using the wrong gender words.

Kiel Area Schools Administrator Brad Ebert sent a note home to parents yesterday explaining that they had no choice but to push ahead with the case. Ebert said the school district is bound to investigate all cases of bullying, and deal with all cases of sexual harassment. The three eighth grade boys are in trouble for allegedly not using ‘they/them’ pronouns for a fellow student. One of the boy’s mothers says the case isn’t about misgendering but is about her son not being bullied into only using certain words.

The Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty is defending the boys, and says Kiel Schools are wrong about their interpretation of the law.
