There are not a lot of fond memories of Frank James in Milwaukee.
His neighbors on the city’s near-north side say James was angry and didn’t have any friends. James is the suspect in this week’s shooting on a New York City subway. He posted in one of his online videos that he was leaving Wisconsin, and that he never planned on coming back alive. James’ sister told The New York Times yesterday that he moved from city to city, and she wasn’t sure what kind of work he did.
Managers at PeopleReady, a staffing agency here in southeast Wisconsin, said James worked through their office. But they wouldn’t say just what he did or where he worked. Police in New York City arrested James yesterday.
There is another Wisconsin tie as investigators say the fireworks used in the attack were bought in Racine County. Authorities say the bag of fireworks found on the subway still had a receipt from Phantom Fireworks in Caledonia. Police believe the suspect in that shooting, Frank James, bought the fireworks in June of last year for just over 90 dollars.
Witnesses say James set-off smoke grenades on the subway before he opened fire.
