The Augusta Area School District is excited to announce two high school students were recently recognized by the Wisconsin Association of School Boards and the Wisconsin Art Education Association and Performance Services for their artwork that was submitted as part of a state-wide competition. The state-wide competition was open to all Wisconsin public school students enrolled in grades 7-12.
According to the WASB the purpose of this opportunity each year is to recognize outstanding student artists across Wisconsin. This year’s winning artwork came from Augusta High School junior Elizabeth Boone. Beth was recognized during the General Session at the 2022 Wisconsin Association of School Boards Annual Convention in January. In addition to Elizabeth’s winning piece, Augusta High School senior Bailey Peterson was also recognized by the judges for her submitted artwork. Both works were created under the guidance of their art teacher Tasha Newton. This year students were asked to reflect on the past year during the worldwide pandemic.
The contest is organized in cooperation with the Wisconsin Art Education Association.
