The hope is that this winter’s construction will open-up Lake Altoona come this summer.
Crews have started building a sand trap in the Eau Claire River. The idea is to dig a massive hole in the river, which will then collect the sand that currently ends-up in the lake.
The hope is to clean the sand trap every year, and keep as much sand as possible out of the lake.
