Hello.

Each Saturday we like to start the day with “scroll down memory lane.” It’s just a look back at some of the key events that have happened on this day in the pages of history.
So, grab your favorite sippin’ drink and let’s take a look back before we push ahead into the new day, shall we?

In 1985, Michael Jackson won a bid over Yoko Ono and Paul McCartney to secure the ATV Music Publishing catalog, and was described by industry experts as one of the largest music acquisitions ever by an individual. At 47-point-five-million-dollars Jackson gained the rights to 40-thousand song copyrights, including compositions by: Little Richard, the Pointer Sisters, Pat Benatar, the Pretenders, and nearly all the songs written by the Beatles. McCartney had been negotiating with Yoko Ono, who had decided to withdraw her side of the deal because of “astrological” reasons.
In 1997, Timothy McVeigh was sentenced to death for the 1995 bombing of Oklahoma City’s Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. The blast killed 168 people.
In 1999, tickets for the Backstreet Boys North American tour sold out in just one day, generating an estimated 30-million-dollars.
In 2003, a massive power outage left millions of people in the Northeast and Midwest U.S. and parts of Canada in the dark. Power went out from New York west to Ohio, south to New Jersey and north to Canada.

And that brings us here to this day.
So, whatever your own 8.14.2021 has in store, here’s hoping you have a events to record in your own personal history pages.
