Republicans in the Wisconsin Assembly are on the record as wanting to declare the state a Second Amendment sanctuary.
The Assembly approved a plan yesterday that would stop local police departments and sheriffs from enforcing federal gun bans or gun registries. The proposal also would stop limits on gun and ammunition purchases. Democrats say the plan is unconstitutional and unnecessary. The sanctuary plan next heads to the State Senate, where it will likely pass. Governor Tony Evers, however, almost certainly will not sign it into law.
