The suspect in a Monroe County murder is hospitalized with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an axe attack that killed one man and wounded two other people on Sunday. Police were called about a domestic disturbance and a man with an axe shortly before noon on Sunday. They found the suspect with a self-inflicted wound and took him into custody. One of the wounded remains hospitalized and the other has been released.
The victim who was killed is identified as 87-year-old Bernard Waite.
