It is a sign of things to come. A judge in Madison yesterday blocked Republican lawmakers from hiring an outside law firm to help draw the state’s next political map.
The judge said lawmakers don’t have the power to hire outside lawyers to do the job. Assembly Speaker Robin Vos accused the judge of playing politics, and vowed to appeal. Lawmakers are supposed to draw new political boundaries after every Census. Almost everyone at the Capitol expects this year’s map to end-up at the center of a legal battle, just as Wisconsin’s last political map did.
