A local philanthropist is donating millions of dollars to University Hospital in Madison. Dr. Kaufman says the gift will allow all of transplant services to be in one central location. Pleasant Rowland started the Middleton-based Pleasant Company, now American Girl. Rowland had a kidney transplant in 2012.
UW Health announced today they are the recipient of a ten-million-dollar donation from Pleasant Rowland for a new transplant clinic at University Hospital.
Rowland received a kidney transplant in 2012 after battling kidney failure for 20 years. She says the gift today is her way of saying thank you to the medical team, the donors and their families who give people a second chance at life.
