Taking a Shot at Vaccine Demand

It’s not surprising that a lot of people in Wisconsin want the coronavirus vaccine.

With 715 Newsroom coverage Jon DeMaster looks into the reaction on a state level from Wisconsin lawmakers:

But local health department managers say it is overwhelming the number of people who are being turned away. Greenfield Health Department director Darren Rausch yesterday said demand for the vaccine is about four-times the state’s supply. Rausch says people are learning that just because they are eligible for the shot, that doesn’t mean there is a dose that’s available. Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services said as of yesterday doctors have administered 432-thousand of the 846-thousand doses allocated to the state.


What does that mean for us here, locally?

Eau Claire County is like most others in Wisconsin, there’s not enough coronavirus vaccine to go around. Eau Claire City-County health director Lieske Giese yesterday said people are going to have to be patient in waiting for the vaccine. She’s encouraging people over 65 to monitor the health department’s website for available doses, then sign-up for an appointment when a dose becomes available. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO.
