WI Coronavirus Snapshot

The latest coronavirus numbers in Wisconsin show some good news.

The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday reported that nearly 92- percent of people who’ve ever tested positive for the virus have now recovered.

DHS also reported that the state’s seven-day positive average fell below nine-percent. But DHS, however, is also reporting an uptick in deaths. The state’s death rate is now at one-percent.

However, nationally the trend isn’t the same.   More than 120-thousand Americans spent Christmas Eve in the hospital fighting the coronavirus.

The COVID Tracking Project reported more than 22-thousand of those patients are in intensive care units.  The Project also recorded nearly three-thousand more deaths and says Thursday’s numbers don’t paint a full picture since a dozen states didn’t fully report their data.  It also warned there won’t be consistent numbers over the holidays.

Nearly 330-thousand Americans have died from COVID-19 since the pandemic began early this year.
