State and Local COVID-19 Cases on Rise

Health officials confirm 21 COVID-19 deaths in Wisconsin over the past day. 

That includes local spikes as well as Chippewa reports over 100 new cases, and Eau Claire over 50 confirmed positive tests. In our state, tere were also 135 new hospitalizations in the last 24 hours.  Over a thousand coronavirus patients are being treated in hospitals.  About 85-percent of all hospital beds statewide are occupied with about 86-percent of ICU beds being used. Health officials from three counties with very high COVID-19 activity levels are sending a collective message to their communities.

Wisconsin is seeing a surge in COVID cases and the health departments of Marathon, Portage and Wood counties say their communities need to take action now to stop the uncontrolled spread of the coronavirus.  Officials say right now it’s imperative that community members wear masks, maintain social distance, limit gatherings and practice good hand hygiene.
