Thousands of WI Jobless Claims Still Waiting

More than a half-million people in Wisconsin are waiting on the state’s jobless office.

The Department of Workforce Development yesterday said 693-thousand jobless claims are still being processed. Some of those claims date all the way back to March. Lawmakers in Madison say no one in the state should have to wait months for their unemployment benefits.

DWD is not offering an explanation for the delay, but has in the past blamed the backlog on outdated computers and a flood of jobless claims.
