Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul says the State Department of Criminal investigation continues to collect evidence in the officer-involved shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha.
Kaul said today when the DCI leads an investigation into a police shooting the agency looks to provide a report of the incident to the prosecutor within 30 days. Blake was critically wounded during an attempted arrest by Kenosha Police on Sunday when the 29-year-old was shot seven times in the back.
Reverend Jesse Jackson says the police meant to kill Jacob Blake.
The civil rights activist spoke in Chicago earlier today about the unrest in Kenosha. He said the shackles should be taken off of Blake and police who shot him indicted, emphasizing that Blake is most likely paralyzed from the waist down.
The suspect charged in the double murder in Kenosha will spend a little more time locked up in his home state of Illinois. Seventeen-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse was scheduled for an extradition status hearing today but did not appear. The hearing has been rescheduled for September 25th.
Rittenhouse’s public defender says his client needed time to meet with a private attorney before being extradited to face charges in Wisconsin.
