WI Sees Political Attention

As Wisconsin is considered a key state in the election, we can expect more attention as we get closer to November.

From the DNC currently underway in Milwaukee, the virtual rallies continue.  Almost every single one of the speakers will be on tape from somewhere other than Milwaukee. Here are some moments from the convention and last nights big name speakers:

Michelle Obama says it pains her to see so many fellow Americans hurting. More from Mark Mayfield.

Speaking during the Democratic National Convention last night, Vermont Senator and former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders says a lot is at stake in November’s election. Mark Mayfield reports.

Former President Bill Clinton and Jill Biden are tonight’s biggest name speakers.

On the other side of the ticket, President Trump is using the absence of Democrats in Milwaukee to highlight his push in the rest of Wisconsin. The president rallied a crowd of about a thousand people in Oshkosh yesterday.

President Trump says the American way of life as we know it would end if Joe Biden is elected.

President Trump is giving his November opponent another name.

Speaking in Wisconsin, Trump argued those surrounding Joe Biden are tough and smart but the former vice president “has no clue” what he’s doing.”  He also referred to those people as being mean and angry, including Biden’s running mate Kamala Harris.  Trump also accused Biden of having “no enthusiasm.”

Trump made a stop in Oshkosh for a campaign event as the Democratic National Convention takes place this week.

Trump also visited Mankato, Minnesota, and said the stock market will suffer greatly if Biden wins in November.  He also claimed American energy would go away under Biden.  On the other hand, Trump promised more cuts to taxes and regulations if he’s re-elected.

The president made a point to not only say he is in Wisconsin while the Democrats are not. He also said he is speaking live and having rallies, while the speakers at the Democratic National Convention are on tape. The president’s son will visit Wisconsin today. Vice President Mike Pence will visit Madison tomorrow.
