WI PRISONS TEST LOW FOR CORONAVIRUS

Almost 99 percent of the inmates in Wisconsin’s prisons have tested negative for the coronavirus.

The state’s Department of Corrections yesterday said just 296 of the more than 24 thousand inmates tested came back as positive. Of those, 285 have recovered. DOC says 95 guards and prison workers also tested positive for the coronavirus. Out of that group, 83 of them have recovered.

Prison officials say the Wisconsin National Guard started testing in prisons back on May 12th, and wrapped-up testing on July 1st.
