June is Elder Abuse Awareness Month.
The World Health Organization defines elder abuse as sexual, emotional, physical, or financial abuse and neglect. Signs of elder abuse can include changes in behavior, anxiety, and bruises in unusual places. Recently, the Wisconsin Department of Justice started an Elder Abuse Hotline to help people report their own abuse, or observations of someone being abused.
