Two suspected gang members from Chicago are in custody in Eau Claire for a deadly home invasion last month.
Prosecutors yesterday filed first degree homicide charges against Ian Kearns, Joe Moya, and Juan Olivarez. Moya and Olivarez are in custody, Kearns is on the run. Police say the three burst into an apartment on Kappus Drive on March 20th for a robbery. While there, they killed Edwin Garcia-Smith and wounded a woman.
Police say they ID’d the suspects from a handgun left at the scene of the crime.
Joe Moya and Juan Olivarez are currently being held in the Cook County, IL jail pending extradition to Eau Claire.
• Ian J. Kearns, date of birth 10/30/1997 also of Illinois. There is an active warrant for Kearns’ arrest for this homicide. Kearns is being actively sought by authorities.
