The famous crosswalk on the Beatles’ Abbey Road album cover is getting a fresh paint job.
London is currently on lockdown because of the coronavirus, so, since no one was out and about, the city’s highway maintenance department decided this week it was a good time to give the landmark a fresh coat of paint. Tourists flock to the crosswalk every year, to get a picture of themselves crossing Abbey Road the way the Beatles did in 1969.
The crosswalk was designated a national landmark in 2010.
