PEN TO PAPER: GOV. EVERS SIGNS OVER 60 NEW LAWS

Wisconsin’s newest laws cover everything from elections to bestiality.

Governor Tony Evers yesterday signed over 60 new laws. The most headline grabbing law is a new ban on bestiality. In addition to reaffirming that sex with animals is wrong, the new law requires anyone convicted of it to register as a sex offender. The governor also vetoed two laws that deal with raffles and sweepstakes.

The rules for when and how schools can physically restrain students are changing. Governor Tony Evers signed a law that bans certain restraints for misbehaving students, and clarifies the rules for reporting when students have been restrained. Disability advocates say the new law will go a long way toward ensuring that students with special needs are treated more fairly in school.
