One Wisconsin lawmaker doesn’t want high schoolers in the state to miss out on an e-sports college scholarship.
State Rep. Tip McGuire is pushing for a new state grant program to help local schools create e-sports programs. E-sports is the name for competitive video gaming that is becoming a sport at both the college and professional level. McGuire says e-sports was worth 15 million-dollars in college scholarships in 2018.
He says it’s expected to be worth 100 million in scholarships by 2025.
