WI ACT SCORES SLIP

A new report says most high school juniors in the state of Wisconsin are not ready for college.

The Wisconsin Policy Forum says just 48-percent of high school juniors in the state scored high enough on last year’s ACT to be deemed college-ready. English is the strongest subject for high schoolers who took the test, nearly 50-percent of kids scored high enough to qualify in English. But the numbers drop for math, science, and reading. Somewhere between 29 and 36-percent of kids scored high enough to be college-ready in those subjects.

Overall, the report says, Wisconsin’s average ACT score dropped a bit last year to 19-point-six.
