9-11 REMEMBERED

9-11 REMEMBERED

Yesterday was a day of ceremony nationally and locally as EMS, first responders, law enforcement, and fire rescue units gathered to remember the 17th anniversary of September 11th terrorist attacks.  Here in our area,

The Eau Claire school district taught students about the history and impact of the September 11th attacks through a formal curriculum.  Current K through 12 students don’t remember that day because only the oldest seniors had been born. The hundreds of emergency workers who died while responding to the September 11th attacks were remembered by students at CVTV by running up flights of stairs to recognize the struggle first responders at the World Trade Center went through when trying to rescue victims of the terrorist attacks.

Students and staff at UW-Eau Claire are honoring the victims of 9/11 with a campus-wide flag display. And in other parts of our state….Sun Prairie firefighters will be joining civilians and first responders from across our state at Lambeau Field later this month for the sixth annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb.   The event will be held September 22nd, where participants will climb the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center towers.  The stair climb honors the sacrifice made by the 343 FDNY firefighters who lost their lives trying to rescue victims 17 years ago.
