KAUL CALLS FOR TOUGHER PENALTIES FOR SCHOOL THREATS

Phoning-in a threat to a high school could soon be a felony in Wisconsin.

Attorney General Josh Kaul yesterday said he wants tougher penalties for people who threaten violence against schools. There’s been a rash of threats this week after two officer-involved shootings at schools in Waukesha and Oshkosh. Prosecutors can file felony terror-related charges, but often times opt for misdemeanor charges.

Kaul says there needs to be more options to bring tougher charges against high school students who make threats.
