Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway is calling on protesters to leave the intersection of Williamson and Baldwin streets.
Protestors have been camping out there since the July 22nd police shooting of Corey Ruiz, but the mayor argued yesterday the occupation is disrupting residents and businesses. Rhodes-Conway’s statement also mentioned the city cannot meet protesters’ demands to arrest the officer involved because charging decisions rest with the Dane County District Attorney. The Wisconsin Department of Justice is leading the investigation into the shooting.
