Wisconsin Republicans want voter approval before municipalities can tax Wisconsinites for vehicle registration.
A Republican backed bill would require local voters to give the green light to the tax increase. Right now 14 counties and more than 50 municipalities have wheel taxes that range from ten dollars to 40 dollars per year. Republicans say its taxation without representation while municipalities say they need the money for road paving and transportation projects.
