Rolling Into the “Year of Transit”

Rolling Into the “Year of Transit”

Eau Claire public transit is declaring 2025 “The Year of Transit.”

Community Services manager Ty Fadness said in 2024, 50-thousand more people used public transit than in 2023.   Last year there were about 710-thousand passengers compared to the 660-thousand passengers in the previous year. That’s thanks to new bus routes and increased bus service at peak times.  Now, Fadness said there are more plans, including a new on-demand ride share service called “Micro Transit Pilot.”  It will give people on the northside of Eau Claire more direct rides compared to a bus route. It’s scheduled to launch on July 1st.  The division is also celebrating 50 years of operation this year.
