The state is looking into an in-custody death involving Madison Police.
The Department of Justice yesterday said its opened an investigation into the arrest at the Best Western on Annamark Drive on Monday. Madison Police say an officer arrested a man after a report of a stolen car and a chase. The suspect was seen by paramedics before being loaded-up for a trip to jail. Investigators say, however, that the suspect was dead when he arrived at the jail. Madison Police are not guessing at what happened, but they say no weapons were discharged in the case. The officers involved in the arrest are now on leave.
