Deputies in Pierce County are not saying if speed or alcohol played a role in a Friday night UTV crash that sent two people to the hospital.
It happened in the Town of Ellsworth about 6:30 Friday evening. The sheriff’s office says the driver, 55-year-old Lonnie Huppert, lost control on State Road 72, and rolled the UTV. His passenger, 27-year-old Bret Welty, was hurt badly enough to be flown to the emergency room in the Twin Cities. Huppert was taken to a local hospital. The sheriff’s office is not commenting on either of their conditions.
