UW Basketball Sinks a Win, Badgers Drop the Ball

The Badgers take the number one team in the country to the limit before falling on a late field goal.

Wisconsin held top-ranked Oregon to a pair of field goals through three quarters and entered the fourth leading 13-to-6 before falling to the Ducks 16-13 Saturday night at Camp Randall Stadium. Braedyn Locke’s two-yard touchdown pass with 25 seconds left in the first half gave the Badgers a 10-6 halftime lead. Wisconsin’s the first team this year to hold Oregon under 20 points and the first since week one to keep the Ducks under 30 points. The Badgers went into the game as a 14-point underdog. Wisconsin needs to win one of its final two games to become bowl-eligible. The Badgers travel to Nebraska next Saturday and wrap up regular season play the day after Thanksgiving at home against Minnesota.

In what could be a good omen for tnnight’s football game, the Badgers men’s basketball team beat eighth-ranked Arizona 103-88 last night at the Kohl Center.

Grad student transfer John Tonje hit 21-of-22 free throws and scored 41 points in just his fourth game as a Badger. Much of the game was spent on the free throw line as the Badgers and the Wildcats each had at least 40 free throw attempts. The win improves Wisconsin to four-and-oh on the season and could put the Badgers on the radar in next week’s rankings.
