WI High Court Rules on Land Conservation Decisions, Political Power

The state Supreme Court says GOP lawmakers overstepped their authority when they blocked Governor Evers from making decisions about land conservation.

The high court ruled 6-1 on Friday to prevent the Republican-controlled Joint Finance Committee from blocking projects proposed as part of the land stewardship program. Evers had filed a lawsuit arguing that committees like the Joint Finance Committee violated the separation of powers established in Wisconsin’s Constitution.
