On Saturday, 06/22/24, at approximately 2:27pm, the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office, along with Augusta Fire & Rescue were dispatched to the Eau Claire River in the area of HWY 27, in the Town of Bridge Creek for a subject who went missing in the river.
It was reported that a male was seen attempting to walk across the river and went under the water. The witness, who had been fishing with the subject, did not see the subject again after that. Due to the large amount of recent rainfall, the river was high and moving rapidly
A large contingency of fire and rescue personnel from several area fire departments and law enforcement agencies responded to the scene and began a river search by water and by air, which continued into Sunday.
As of this time, the subject has not been located. Efforts to locate the victim are being hampered by the rapid river waters but are continuing.
The subject is identified as Robert A. Hanson, 35yrs old, of Eau Claire.
