A tornado has caused considerable damage in Janesville.
A statement from the city says a tornado touched down in south Janesville early Saturday night and caused considerable damage to structures and infrastructure. The statement said first responders are on the scene, and the city has activated its Emergency Operations Center to mobilize resources. The Rock County Sheriff’s office said at 11pm that no injuries have been reported, and further damage assessments would be completed in the morning. Residents are being asked to stay away from the south side of Janesville.
Stormtrackers are confirming that there were at least three tornadoes in southern Wisconsin Saturday night. Residents in Lafayette County are reporting wind damage to trees and structures, and images from the area show severe damage to a church in Argyle. Flooded roadways are also being reported, and hail the size of quarters.
