WI Sports Weekend: Brewers Win, Packers Prep

As the saying goes, unlucky at bunts, lucky at bombs.

Two pitches after fouling off a bunt attempt with two runners on base, Brewers rookie Joey Ortiz blasted a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth to give the Brew Crew a three-one win over the Cincinnati Reds Saturday at American Family Field. Four Brewers pitchers combined on a five-hitter as Central Division-leading Milwaukee evened the weekend series.

First pitch for the series finale is this afternoon at 1:10 p.m. as the Brewers try to clinch their third-straight series.

From the diamond to the field, the Packers have all eleven of this year’s draft picks under contract with the signing of their top selection.

Green Bay signed offensive lineman Jordan Morgan this week. The Packers selected the six-foot-five, 311-pound Morgan in the first round with the 25th pick of the draft. Morgan was a second team All-American in his senior year at University of Arizona.
