Cicadas Emerge

Get ready for the noise, the DNR says the cicadas have started to come out in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin’s Department of Natural Resources says it has confirmed the emergence of cicadas in southern Wisconsin. The DNR says the 17-year Brood 13 cicadas are the only one known to emerge in Wisconsin, and those only appear in the state’s southern counties. Other parts of the Midwest will see both the Brood 13 cicadas and Brood 19 cicadas this year. Conservation managers say the bugs will continue to come out though the end of next month, then they won’t be seen again in Wisconsin til 2041.
