During the week of May 5th through May 10th, Sheriff Travis Hakes attended a course taught by the National Sheriff’s Institute. The course in leadership development was funded 100% by federal tax dollars through the National Institute of Corrections. The course was taught in Quantico Virginia, at the FBI Academy Headquarters. Sheriff Hakes shared his experience at the conference, saying,
“Over the last week I learned a lot about leadership and look forward to improving on certain things. It was refreshing to hear how the Office of Sheriff has so many similarities across the country, even with offices that have more cattle than people and those considered a major county. I look forward to the opportunity to apply this education as I strive to be the best Sheriff I can be for all of Chippewa County.”
