Giddyup! Midwest Horse Fair Underway

Calling all horse lovers!

A tradition continues in our state with the Midwest Horse Fair in Madison. You can gallup to the capitol city to see all kinds of horses, but absent this year will be the police horses. The Madison Police Department will not have its horses at the Midwest Horse Fair after an equine virus was reported in several counties in the state.

The E-H-M virus was reported in Clark, Grant, Monroe, Sauk, and Vernon Counties, according to The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. A Madison police officer said the department just began its “riding season” and it would be “detrimental” if any of the departments horses became ill at this time.
