Lanes Closed for 7 Hours After Interstate Crash

The Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a single-vehicle commercial motor vehicle crash on Interstate 94 at mile marker 116 in Jackson County.

Preliminary investigation shows a tractor pulling two trailers was westbound, traveling through a construction zone where traffic is moving bi-directional in the eastbound lanes. As the traffic lanes moved from the bi-directional back to the westbound lanes of travel, the CMV failed to negotiate the transition and struck an impact attenuator connected to jersey barriers dividing traffic. The rear trailer detached and overturned, coming to rest on the westbound median shoulder. The tractor and front trailer continued along the jersey barrier coming to rest in the closed eastbound lane. The driver, 48 year old Jamal Reynolds from Minnesota, was able to exit the unit before the tractor and first trailer caught on fire.

Eastbound lanes of Interstate 94 were closed for 7 hours.
