Firefighters in Ixonia are blaming Saturday’s high winds for a controlled burn that got out of control.
Winds whipped-up the flames in a field just north of I-94 on Highway E. Fire crews say they were trying to burn off some brush at the time. Ixonia’s fire department says their mistake should be a warning to be careful when burning anything this year, particularly when the winds are high.
