UW STOUT Left Without Healthcare Provider After Prevea Announces Exit

The community continues to grapple with the many layers of reaction attached to the news that two hospitals and providers are leaving our area.

UW-Stout yesterday said it will need a new student healthcare provider once Prevea closes its clinics in April. Prevea currently runs the Student Health Services clinic in Menomonie. The university yesterday said it is exploring its options. Prevea and HSHS this week announced they will close their hospitals and clinics in the Chippewa Valley because of cost concerns, leaving many to wonder what is next for the healthcare landscape in our community.

On that note, we will be working to provide a hub of resources, reaction, and reliable information in the coming days and weeks about what steps are being made to offer options and solutions to those affected by the closures.
