Healthcare Landscape Changes: HSHS & Prevea Exit Chippewa Valley

There will soon be far fewer choices for healthcare in the Chippewa Valley.

Hospital Sisters Health System and Prevea yesterday said they are closing all of their hospitals and clinics in western Wisconsin. That means Sacred Heart in Eau Claire, and St. Joseph’s in Chippewa Falls will close, as will Prevea clinics in Altoona, Menomonie, Augusta, Cornell, Rice Lake and Ladysmith. In all, more than 14 hundred people will lose their jobs.

HSHS and Prevea said they are closing their Chippewa Valley hospitals because of the ‘lingering impacts of the pandemic, inflation, workforce constraints, local market challenges and other industry-wide trends.’

Most hospitals and clinics will be closed by April. HSHS and Prevea say they will work to transition patients to new doctors and hospitals and you CAN READ MORE WITH A CLICK HERE.
