Wisconsin has been crowned the fifth-best US state for a winter trip!
That’s according to the travel expert Viator, who sought to uncover the best states to visit for a winter vacation. To do so, they created a points-based index system that analyzed in each state: the number of ice rinks and ski resorts, the average rating of ski resorts, the number of indoor activities with a rating greater than 4, 4.5, and 5 on Tripadvisor, and the average winter snowfall levels.

Highlights from the research:
- Wisconsin has the second-most number of ice rinks in the top 10 states
- Vermont is the best state for a winter trip
- Vermont has the second-highest number of ski resorts (25)
- Alaska is second place
- Maine sees the highest average winter snowfall out of the top three states (64.27 inches)
- Massachusetts has the most ice rinks out of the top 10 states (139)
- Colorado has the third-most ski resorts out of all states (39) second to Michigan (43) and New York (50)
