I DO: WI Lawmakers Look to Enshrine Marriage Laws

Some of Wisconsin’s lawmakers are looking to change the state’s constitution to protect same sex marriage.

The legislature’s LGBTQ plus caucus will introduce two plans this week that would enshrine same sex marriage in the state. One plan would erase language from the state constitution that defines marriage in Wisconsin as between a man and a woman. The other would make similar changes to state laws. Same sex marriage has been legal in Wisconsin since 2014, after the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled that men and men, or women and women could get married.
