STEM Funding Focus of Lawmakers Budget

STEM Funding Focus of Lawmakers Budget

The University of Wisconsin says it is giving Republican lawmakers exactly what they asked for.

UW president Jay Rothman yesterday unveiled a plan to spend 32 million-dollars on engineering, math, and science degrees. Rothman says the plan will invest in  in-demand at campuses across the state. Assembly Speaker Robin Vos withheld 32 million from the university as part of his push to end diversity, equity, and inclusion spending at the school. Vos said he’d rather see the money spent on engineering and STEM degrees. While Rothman’s plan does that, there is nothing in Rothman’s proposal that takes money away from DEI at the school.
